CAMPAIGN DEL MAR | MARKETING CIRCLE LAUNCH
“I will find you a boat ...
… actually,
will a yacht do?”
“We are launching our new online program … and we want to shoot this campaign on a tinny.”
Campaign Del Mar had me at tinny, and the hint of multiple pun opportunities during this campaign also floated my boat. Many things make me happy. My family, coffee, quality time with friends, coffee, and puns.
However, we hit stormy waters when the loan of a tinny fell through. The team at Campaign Del Mar attempted to change course and sail away from the concept of using a boat, but I refused to believe that we couldn’t find another dinghy.
I threw the line out to my network, and Captain Geoff offered to take us out for a sail on his yacht! We scored a beautiful sunset, they offered us wine, and buoy, were we off to a cracking start.
Everything was smooth sailing, and schooner or later I knew I better land the drone. The sun was going down but my heart rate was going up. I was knot having much luck landing the drone on a moving yacht. The battery was dying, I was sweating and the chances of it landing in the water were rising. But, my sailor friends, the story has a good ending, I finally landed Malcolm (that’s what I call my drone) safely, and enjoyed that glass of wine!
This project was a real turning point in my career. It was boat to my attention that I was so much more than a point and shoot videographer, “You organised us a yacht. You’re a Creative Director!”
